Appearance of the new Duster changed dramatically, but the designers had to work within the same dimensions, because the platform remained old. The large radiator grille has a very original look, completely new head optics with LED strips. Tail lights, this is actually hello from the future. Huge roof rails have appeared on the roof, and now 17-inch wheels will be available to buyers. But the most interesting thing about the exterior of the new product can be seen from the side. Duster II interior changed beyond recognition. A completely new center console, a solid climate control unit with cool washers and screws. The touch monitor displays not only multimedia, navigation and rear view camera data, but also a projection image from all-round cameras! The steering wheel not only changed its shape, but also began to move back and forth, plus height adjustment. There is not much information about the trunk yet. Taking into account the fact that the dimensions of the car have remained virtually unchanged, the volume has remained approximately the same. Naturally, the version with all-wheel drive has a slightly smaller trunk.

In technical terms, there are not many changes. The body length turned out to be about 4.3 meters, with the same wheelbase. The approach angle is 30 and the departure angle is 33 degrees, plus ground clearance of 210 mm. That is, in terms of geometric cross-country ability, the model has not become worse. The chassis and suspension remain the same. The settings may change, but the architecture and overall design have changed little. The rear still has the same drum brakes. Of course, the car is very popular in our market. But the manufacturer will clearly not rush to launch the new product, since the old generation is also selling well. If we take as an analogy the situation with the appearance of the second generation Renault Logan, then the car took about 2 years from the European premiere to the Russian market. Unfortunately, it will be possible to fully evaluate the car only in 2018, when it goes on sale in Russia, then, according to the latest news, a new generation of the national car Renault Duster 2018 will be presented especially for Russia.

Preliminary assessment and photos showed that the car will receive an enlarged body, and this will have a positive effect on interior comfort. The length will be 4,500 millimeters, which is almost 200 mm longer than its predecessor. Width, height and ground clearance will remain the same – 1,822 mm, 1,625 mm and 210 mm, respectively.

An important part is the increased area of ​​the side mirrors and windows for years, thanks to which the car will receive several times improved visibility. Wide roof rails are installed on the roof, which gives the car a feeling of massiveness and status. One of the main advantages of the new generation will be the CVT. With its help, they will replace the outdated four-speed automatic gearbox with a six-speed manual transmission and the same automatic transmission. All this will be realized in the new generation.

Different configurations will receive a power plant:

• — gasoline engine with a volume of 1600 cubic centimeters, producing 125 horsepower;
• — a two-liter gasoline unit with a capacity of 143 “horses”;
• — turbocharged diesel engine with a volume of 1500 cubic centimeters and a power of 130 horsepower.

The petrol unit will be available with both a 6-speed automatic transmission and a manual transmission.
According to the latest news, which also arrived today, it will receive two drive options - all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. Unlike previous models, the new generation of cars will be equipped as standard with options that were previously missing, namely:

• — rear view camera;
• — remote engine start function from the key fob;
• — heated rear window;
• — cruise control system.

The interior of the new 2018 Duster will also undergo a number of changes and will resemble the design of more expensive models. Information from unofficial sources has leaked onto the Internet that the interior design will be the same as that of the Renault Duster Oroch pickup truck. The main change in the cabin will be a fully digital instrument panel with two screens. The smaller screen will display the clock and vehicle indicators, and the main display will become part of the multimedia system. In addition to visual changes, the interior will also receive improvements aimed at increasing comfort. A few months after the presentation of the Dacia Duster, photos appeared of the Renault Duster, which will be sold in Russia. The French version features a slightly different grille shape, a modified front bumper shape, and a slightly different interior. So, in comparison with the analogue from Dacia, the steering wheel has changed, and round ventilation deflectors have been replaced by rectangular ones.

Considering that the release of the new Duster will take place no earlier than in a year, it is too early to talk about specific numbers. But “thanks to” the established tradition, the cost of a car in a new body will definitely increase, by approximately 40-50 thousand rubles. The steering wheel has not only horizontal adjustment of 50 mm, but vertical adjustment of 40 mm. The shelf placed above the glove box has become more spacious. As mentioned above, the crossover in the new body will not differ much in size and characteristics from the current values, but the trunk of the new Duster has become 30 liters smaller: in the front-wheel drive version its volume has become 445 liters, and in the all-wheel drive version - 376 liters, but in the cabin, the volume of small compartments has increased to almost 29 liters.

The off-road performance that was present in the previous generation was not cut down, while the amenities in the car became noticeably greater. For example, an assistant for descending from significant heights, as well as starting on a steep climb, can be optionally installed.

For the European model (both 2WD and 4WD), petrol power units TCe 125 and SCe 115, paired with a manual transmission, will be offered. In addition, no one has canceled diesel engines: the dCi 110 engine is available for 2WD and 4WD, and only for 2WD - dCi 90. Diesels are also equipped with “mechanics”, but in the 2WD version 110 hp. The new Duster will appear on the domestic market no earlier than 2020 and will be sold under the Renault brand and a different range of engines, but for the most part, the car will be the same as the one presented at the Frankfurt auto show.
