The cruise ship on which Stanislav Kurilov purchased a tour sailed from Vladivostok on December 8, 1974. He was least suited for escape. The sides were rounded at the bottom. These were tanks for the passive pitch control system. In addition, this system included underwater metal wings about one and a half meters wide. So it was impossible to leave the ship by jumping off the side. You should have jumped in only one place, from behind, into the breakers behind the blades propeller. A little later, in the USSR, where Kurilov lived for 38 years, a commission met regarding his escape, which decided to deprive him of his freedom for another 10 years, “for treason to the Motherland.” But Slava Kurilov no longer cared about this, he began to live and achieve everything he dreamed of for many years- studied the ocean, made trips and expeditions, including to the North Pole.

Stanislav Kurilov died on January 29, 1998 while diving on Lake Tiberias in Israel.
