It is very unusual to see in these latitudes the turquoise surface of the tropical sea, reminiscent of the waters of the Caribbean. Perm is an excellent example of a city (and, frankly speaking, there are few such cities in Russia) that, with the help of its residents and assistants, completed a “reset” on time and completely. If you allow me, members of the KVN team “Parma” were responsible for “public relations” back in the early 2000s: now famous actress Svetlana Permyakova, director Zhanna Kadnikova, actor Nikolai Naumov, stand-up comedians and perhaps the main creatives of the famous TV channel Oleg Vereshchagin and Gavriil Gordeev. In the 2010s, some of these cheerful and extraordinary people, united in a creative group, created the television series “Real Boys”, which shocked the “right” moviegoers both with its theme and in a special way filming and presentation, and causes a storm of the most controversial statements from critics. At the same time, a considerable part of the country’s population, in principle, recognizes that such a city exists.

Despite the plot about someone who cares little about his moral character young man, the series is officially recognized as a cultural heritage of the Perm region. Moreover, recognition happened after the local “cultural revolution”. Because in Perm, in terms of culture, they care not only about innovators. The city maintains its architectural monuments in good condition. Active theaters hold world-famous festivals. New sculptures appear regularly - a tribute to the memory of significant events and great personalities of the Kama region. They say that hotels here are rarely idle. What the editors of Localway invite you to check out, and at the same time, although the city was built very logically - wide streets run parallel to the Kama, and cozy alleys connect them - presents to your attention its own convenient route through Perm, which knows how to surprise.

Bakery/Pastry Shop, Cafe

We will start our day at the Lemon Tree cafe and pastry shop. The most popular morning items here, of course, are fresh porridges - rice, semolina, oatmeal or corn. We especially recommend the latter. It is cooked with cream and served with pumpkin seeds and, of course, an integral attribute - a fresh bun with butter and berry jam. The result is an excellent, tasty and healthy breakfast that will allow you not to be distracted by thoughts about food until lunch!

Now is the time to cheer up, take a deep breath of fresh river air and recharge yourself with positive impressions for the whole next day. To do this, we will get to the Kama embankment, where the first point of our route for the development of Perm is located. The art object “Happiness is just around the corner” appeared here in 2009, thanks to the “cultural revolution” taking place in the city under the leadership of gallery owner Marat Gelman. The creator of “Perm happiness” was the artist Boris Matrosov.

Big red letters that form such a life-affirming slogan have become one of the most popular objects for photo sessions, and simply a must-visit place for every tourist. This inscription also became known throughout the country, appearing in the film “The Geographer Drank the Globe Away” with Konstantin Khabensky in the title role, as well as in the popular comedy series “Real Boys”.

Monastyrskaya, Perm

From the embankment we will walk along 25 Let Oktyabrya Street, turn onto Lenin Street, and now we are in front of the Gribushin House - an architectural monument of the 19th century and one of the most beautiful buildings in Perm. By the way, this particular house is supposedly depicted in Boris Pasternak’s novel “Doctor Zhivago” as a “house with figures.” The building was erected in 1895–1897, by order of the official Kashperov. The project of the mansion in the Art Nouveau style was carried out by the architect A.B. Turchevich, author of numerous buildings in the Urals. Stunning stucco decoration appeared here under another owner - merchant S.M. Gribushin. The elegant decorations of the interiors and facade were created by self-taught artist Pyotr Agafin. At one time, this building was a popular salon, within the walls of which all the creative intelligentsia of Perm gathered. The Gribushin family lived here until 1919. Then a garrison officer's shop, a military hospital, and a children's hospital were located here.

Today Permsky is located here science center The Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and, like a century ago, chamber music concerts are held every month in the main living room of the mansion.

Theatre, Opera and ballet

Further along Lenin Street we move towards Theater Square and ten minutes later we find ourselves in front of the largest theater in the city - the Perm State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after. P.I. Tchaikovsky. The building, designed specifically for the theater, was erected in the 70s of the 19th century and is an architectural monument of late Russian classicism. The famous Perm architect Rudolf Karwowski worked on the construction project. In 1957–1959, a large-scale restoration of the building was carried out, which made it possible to increase its area by one and a half times, while maintaining its original appearance.

One of the oldest theaters in the country proudly bears the name of the genius of Russian classics P.I. Tchaikovsky, all of whose musical and dramatic creations - 10 operas and 3 ballets - were presented on the Perm stage. Today the theater's repertoire consists of both masterpieces of world opera and ballet, as well as undeservedly forgotten musical works. At the same time, the theater has always been distinguished by its non-standard approach to staging works of academic art, mastering modern material, bright and large-scale art projects.

Going out onto Sibirskaya Street and walking 200 meters towards the Square named after. Reshetnikov, we find ourselves at the ancient building of the former hotel “Royal Rooms”. This three-story residential building, an example of Art Nouveau architecture, was built back in 1910, and its original owner was the wealthy timber merchant Vasily Ivanovich Korolev, after whom the hotel was named. It should be noted that this was one of the most comfortable hotels in the city, characterized by a high level of technical equipment for that time: there was electricity, running water and water heating. The hotel also had a first-class restaurant. Naturally, the guests of the establishment were very important people. “Royal Numbers” gained greater fame at a difficult and turning point for the country. In 1918 he lived here younger brother Nicholas II - Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich, serving exile in the Perm province. On the night of June 12-13, a representative of the Romanov dynasty was secretly abducted from a hotel and killed. A memorial plaque installed on the facade testifies to Mikhail Alexandrovich’s stay in the house. The hotel existed here in the 1920s; Vladimir Mayakovsky stayed in its rooms. Then the building was adapted into a dormitory for employees of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.

Sight

On June 12, 2009, at the Ural Hotel, opposite the Central Department Store, the symbol depicted on the coat of arms of Perm was installed. Even in its first version, approved by Catherine II on July 17, 1783, a silver bear was depicted, which signified the wild nature of the inhabitants; on the back of the animal there was a gospel and a silver cross - enlightenment through Christianity. The bear, as a symbol of natural wealth, “lived” on the coat of arms until 1967, and in 1998 it returned in artistic form.

A walking bear occupies an area of 3.5 square meters. The total weight of the monument is 3.5 tons. The authors of the project joke that the idea of the sculpture is based on the idea of foreigners that bears walk along the streets of Russian cities. The artist is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Association of Arts UNESCO, monumental sculptor, native of Nizhny Tagil Vladimir Pavlenko. Immediately after installation, the Perm Bear became popular among adults and children. Tourists take pictures hugging and riding a bear. The newlyweds ask for marital happiness by rubbing the shiny nose of the clubfoot.

On April 1, 2006, an unusual two-part sculpture appeared near house 27 on Komsomolsky Prospekt (Prikamye Hotel). The antique apparatus of the photographer's figure is aimed at a pedestal about two meters high with a round frame with large ears in which you can place your face and take a memorable photo. It is believed that the Permyak Salty Ears monument is now the most famous landmark of the city. It is most often found on postcards and magnets with views of Perm.

The Russkiy Mir magazine once called the composition the strangest monument in the country. Although the roots of the creation of a genre figure by Rustam Ismagilov go back to history. The traditional occupation of the region is commercial salt making. Workers were forced to carry large bags of salt on their shoulders. The heavy load often touched the ears, contact with salt caused skin irritation - and the ears became large and red. Thus, the nickname “Permyak salty ears” stuck with the ancient workers of Perm, and thanks to such attractions, today’s travelers can take photographs at the unusual pedestal as a souvenir and recognize interesting facts from history.

The next point on our route is Sibirskaya, 33. Here, in a house on the corner of Bolshaya Yamskaya and Sibirskaya streets, the famous Sergei Diaghilev spent the happy time of his youth. In the future - a theater reformer, initiator of the association of young artists "World of Art", organizer of the legendary "Russian Seasons" in Paris and historical tours of Russian ballet around the world. Perm residents lovingly call it “grandmother rotunda” because it is one of the main attractions of the recognized cultural capital of the Urals. The rotunda was built in 1824 in honor of the arrival of Emperor Alexander I in Perm: monarchs rarely visited county towns, so they carefully prepared for such a meeting. In addition to tidying up the streets and house facades, they built a beautiful gazebo designed by architect Sviyazev. There is even a memorial plaque on the roof with the inscription: “To the Perm Society. September 24 days 1824."

The “gift” to the monarch is a structure of twelve columns, which are crowned by a semicircular roof with a forged metal spire in the middle. The columns and roof are decorated with elaborate carvings. The rotunda is located in the center of the park. Gorky, which once had the status of a country garden. From a distance it seems that the white structure is made of stone. But in fact, the rotunda is wooden, which at one time caused the gazebo to become very dilapidated. Fortunately, talented restorers were able to return the monument to its original ceremonial appearance.

Having delved into history, let us return to modern times. And the fastest way to do this is to drive a couple of stops public transport along Komsomolsky Prospekt towards Belinsky Street. Built by 1953 in the style of “Stalinist monumentalism,” the corner tower with a spire ending was conceived as the main building of the university in Perm. But at the end of four years of construction, the building was transferred to the State Security Committee. A ballistics laboratory was located on the ground floor of the building, in which experts shot the seized weapons. It is believed that city residents passing by thought: they were shooting at those arrested without trial. One way or another, Perm residents can tell more than one legend about the “tower of death.” Innocent people were allegedly tortured within the walls of the building, convicts were thrown from the top floor directly into the courtyard, and underground passages lead from the prison to other “terrible” places - the old Yegoshikha cemetery and a real prison - and all the builders were killed upon completion of the work in order to classify what was happening inside house No. 74 on Komsomolsky Prospekt.

There is another version of the origin of the original name for the departmental building: in Soviet times, not far from here there was a cinema in which the foreign film “Tower of Death” was shown. The poster suggested the original version to residents. One way or another, the history of this high-rise building has become a large part of Perm rumor - it even received a literary continuation. In 1997, local prose writer A. Subbotin’s story “Tower of Death” was published, in which a mysterious structure becomes the main scene of phantasmagoric events in the spirit of popular dystopias.

I am constantly confused about which peak is where and which mountains are the highest in our region. To remember, I decided to systematize the information I found. And some photos.

Let's first understand the geography of the Urals.

Geographically Ural Mountains are divided into five parts:

Polar Urals. Despite the harsh climate, the Polar Urals (especially its southern part) is quite popular among lovers of hiking, skiing, water and sports tourism. The popularity of the area is associated, among other things, with its good transport accessibility: the maximum distance of tourist routes from the Northern Railway stations (Sob, Kharp, 110 km (Polyarny village), Polyarny Ural, Khorota, Yeletskaya, Sivaya Maska, Abez, Shor) is not exceeds 60 km.

Subpolar Urals, the highest part of the Ural Mountains,

Northern Urals, one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of the Urals. It extends from the Kosvinsky Kamen and the neighboring Konzhakovsky Kamen (1569 m) in the south to the northern slopes of the Telposis massif.

Of particular interest are the remains of harder rocks - magnificent rocks and outcrops. The most famous of them are found on the mountains Man Pupu Nier, Torre Porre Iz, Muning Tump.

Southern Ur l - the widest part of the Ural Mountains.

In the north, the Pai-Khoi mountain system can be considered a continuation of the Ural Range, in the south - Mugodzhary.

Highest peaks:

Polar Urals - Mount Payer (1499 m above sea level).

Subpolar Urals - Mount Narodnaya (1895 m).

Subpolar Urals - Mount Manaraga (1662 m).

Northern Urals - Mount Telposis (1617 m).

Middle Urals - Mount Oslyanka (1119 m).

Southern Urals - Mount Yamantau (1640 m).

Perm region.

In the eastern part of the region (about 20% of its territory), where the Ural Mountains pass, the relief is mountainous: mid-mountain for the Northern Urals and low-mountain for the Middle Urals. The border between them is drawn at the foot of Mount Oslyanka (59º N).

The highest mountains are located in the north of the region:

Tulymsky Kamenь (1496 m) - the highest peak in the Perm region; Tulymsky Kamen is a mountain range in the Northern Urals, Perm Territory. The length of the ridge is 35 kilometers. The highest point of the ridge is 1,496 meters. Tulymsky stone is the highest point of the Perm region.

Toponymy: the name of the mountain is given by the Tulymsky Kamen ridge of the same name, to which it belongs. The name “Tulimsky Stone” is derived from the term “tulym”, known in Tatar dialects meaning “stones sticking out of the river” and in the Komi-Yazva dialect meaning “river threshold”. Opposite Tulymsky Stone on the river. Vishera has rapids, the largest on this river.

The administrative border between Perm and Perm runs along this ridge. region and the Sverdlovsk region, is part of the watershed of the Kama and Ob river basins.

The ridge has a Russian name, which is a copy of the Mansi - Yalpyng-Nyor or Ali-Yalpyng-Nyor, which translates as “Holy Stone” or “Southern Holy Stone”. There are several “Holy Stones” in the Urals, most and revered by the Mansi is Sosvinsky Yalpyng-Nyor, located north of the Molebny Stone ridge in question. Ridges with similar names are sacred; the path to their peaks is closed to mere mortals. In this regard, there is another interpretation of their name - “Inaccessible, Satanic Stone”. The fact that the Molebny Stone ridge was a holy place for the Mansi is also evidenced by the name of the saddle between its chapter. the peaks are Purlahtyn-Sori, which means “The saddle on which sacrifices are made.” Ch. the tops of this ridge are also deified and animated, and are significant heroes in Mansi mythology; their names are translated as “Old Man Mountain” (Mount Oika-Chahl) and “Old Woman Mountain” (Mount Ekva-Chahl).
